Vibratory Feeders/

Centrifugal Feeders

Also referred to as rotary feeders, centrifugal feeders function in much the same way as a vibratory bowl feeder, but offer many additional advantages. Providing quiet, subtle processes through the utilization of rotational force, centrifugal feeders separate materials in order to feed a wide variety of parts without the use of tracks or vibration. Typically constructed from aluminum, steel or stainless steel, centrifugal feeders are capable of handling wet and even oil-covered parts.

Centrifugal Feeders

Offering high feed rates, centrifugal feeders are ideal for thick parts aren't inclined to tangle when pulled to the outside of the bowl at high speeds. Offering efficient separation of both large and small parts, centrifugal feeders tend to mar parts less than any other feeder type and offer an ergonomic solution to monotonous and physically strenuous sorting tasks. Able to be used in applications requiring the gentle handling of materials, centrifugal feeders are often used in industries such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics, hardware, food, manufacturing, medical, automotive and many others.

Typically held to FDA-approved standards, centrifugal feeders consist of a circular bowl, one or two angled spinning disks and a conical central driven rotor that is supported by a frame and base that are often constructed from cast iron. Instead of vibration or tracks, centrifugal feeders utilize angle spinning disks in order to cast parts to the out edge of the bowl. The bowl and the disks rotate independently of each other as well as continuously operating at various rates of speed. The parts are simultaneously stabilized as they accumulate on the outer edge in order to start orientation. After orientation, the parts exit the bowl and are conveyed to the next stage in the process. However, parts that are damaged or misaligned in any way will not be conveyed forward, but will be returned back to the feeder bowl to either be recirculated or discharged. Specialized custom tooling is often available in order to better suit certain types of parts and well as to achieve a desired rate of speed. This type of feeder is not desired to store parts and will require a storage hopper.
