Cardboard Boxes
Cardboard boxes include any box made from paper pulp-based material. Cardboard
differs from corrugated board because cardboard does not have fluted (pleated)
paper in its core. Cardboard is a stiff material, and is normally brown in
color. Cardboard boxes are used for shipping, storage and material handling
in commercial and industrial sectors.
Cardboard boxes are sturdy, and can be made to nearly any size required. Cardboard
is recyclable and is much less costly than other types of material. Cardboard
boxes can normally be unfolded to lie flat, taking less storage space than
plastic or metal containers.
Cardboard boxes are often subjected to impacts and falls during shipping,
therefore, they must be carefully selected to protect their contents. The boxes
can also be marked to convey their contents, various warnings and other messages.
Cardboard boxes have been used since the late 1800's in nearly every
industry, as well as in households.
