Viton Gaskets
Viton gaskets are commonly used due to their resistance to heat, oil, and acids and impermeability to gases. Viton gaskets also offer excellent resistance to compression even at extreme temperatures.
Viton is a brand of flouroelastomer, or synthetic rubber, trademarked by DuPont Performance Elastomers LLC and is commonly used in O-Rings and gaskets.
There are five families of Viton polymers: A (Dipolymers of VF2/HFP), used for general purpose sealing, particularly in the automotive and aerospace industries, B (Terpolymers of VF2/HFP/TFE), commonly used in chemical processing and power utility seals and gaskets, F (Terpolymers of VF2/HFP/TFE), commonly used with applications involving inorganic acids, water, and steam, TBR (TFE/Propylene), used in automotive applications with pH requirements, and ETP (Copolymers of TFE/Propylene and Ethylene/TFE/PMVE), used in ultra harsh environments such as oil exploration and production.
