Heat Sealer

A heat sealer is a packaging machine that uses controlled heat to seal a package. Heat sealing is widely used in the packaging of food products, as a heat-sealed package can help prevent its contents from becoming spoiled. In addition to their use in food product packaging, heat sealers are used to package a wide variety of industrial, commercial and consumer products.

Heat Sealer

Heat sealers are just one of many packaging equipment varieties. Packaging equipment is any machine that is used to place products in a package in advance of the product's shipment, storage or sale. Packaging machines include fillers, bagging machines, shrink wrappers and heat sealers in some cases. Heat sealers never stand alone in a packaging process; they are used to seal packages that have already been filled by another piece of machinery. They can involve crimping hardware and heating elements that ensure the air-tightness of the packages they seal. They can sometimes be used in tandem with vacuum packing machines, which first remove the air from packages in order to prevent it from negatively interacting with the contents of the package. Some of the most commonly heat-sealed packages are those that are intended for consumer use, particularly food products. Breakfast cereal, popcorn, frozen foods and a wide variety of other such products are very frequently sold in heat-sealed plastic or paper packaging.

There are two different kinds of heat sealers utilized in the packaging industry: continuous and impulse. Continuous heat sealers use heated belts to stabilize the product being sealed while wheeling it over a heating source to make the seal uniform. Impulse heat sealers use a stationary unit to seal the package, usually by way of immersing the package inside the impulse heat sealer. Heat sealers work along with other packaging machinery in order to prepare products for shipment. Packaging machines, like the heated sealer, have eliminated the need for many time consuming, labor-intensive tasks that were once done by hand. Companies that employ automated packaging equipment accumulate substantial savings because of reduced labor cost and increased product output capacity. For these reasons, the automated packaging equipment industry, including the heat sealing equipment industry, is likely to remain healthy for many years to come.
