Managing Technology With Magnetic Shielding

EMF Protection It's hard to deny the fact that we live in a very technological world nowadays. I'm typing this as I sit at a flat screen computer in an office with multiple computers. Every employee has a phone at their desk, and most likely a cell phone in their purse or pocket. Imagine walking into an office 50 years ago. I'm sure it would look a lot different that it does now. The entire office environment has changed immensely since the computer boom and the increased and widespread use... Read More

How to evaluate for prototyping of magnetic shields

EMF Protection by Josh Wickler - Marketing and Sales Coordinator, Magnetic Shield Corp. Overview: Hands on Lab Kits are used by global businesses, engineers, scientists, inventors, educators and homeowners in over 80 countries to evaluate and prototype magnetic shields. To use a Lab Kit you must first determine the source of electromagnetic interference, then locate and measure the magnitude of the interference, and calculate the shielding requirements. Once you have completed your evaluation you must select a type of shielding alloy to use. From selected material, you can build a... Read More

EMI Shielding Utilities

EMF Protection I was privileged enough as a young child to have parents who cared vigorously for my health. I was less privileged that their care for my health included care for my teeth, and the expression of that care was two visits to the dentist every year. I'm just kidding about that not being a privilege, of course. But I can't think of anyone who looks forward to visits to the dentist's office, unless that person is a dentist. One of my least favorite experiences at the dentist's office... Read More

EMI Shielding Materials: Mitigating Hazards

EMF Protection As if industry didn't have to contend with enough hazards. The nature of the world is such that it presents challenges to product engineers at every turn. If it's not corrosion, it's uncontrollable temperature changes. If it's not UV exposure, it's infrasound exposure. There are many natural forces and artificial forces that threaten the work of engineers and generally make their lives harder. EMI, or electromagnetic interference, is certainly on this list. It's everywhere! I can picture a MRI machine manufacturer thinking to himself or herself, All I... Read More

Finding the Right EMF Protection

Enter EMF protection into Google, and you're likely to see something you're not looking for. If you're a professional looking for a material that you can use to shield a product from electromagnetic interference, you'd probably be surprised by the volume of hits related to personal EMF protection little metal pendants that are advertised to mitigate the harmful affects of artificially-produced electromagnetism on humans. On the other hand, if you're looking for one of those pendants or for a magnetically shielded case in which to keep your cell phone in... Read More

Protecting the Public from EMF Radiation

In today’s world, there are many devices that give off EMF radiation. This radiation has been a part of factories for decades, but is just now becoming part of the everyday world with things like wireless routers and cell phones. EMF radiation is simply the emission given off from certain electronic devices.

Little is known about how dangerous EMF radiation is long-term. There have been few studies on the topic. However, the general consensus from the studies that have been done is that too much EMF radiation can cause health problems.

Radiation can leech in from anywhere. That is why many customers are looking for new products to aid in EMF protection. Some of the most recent products available from EMI shielding companies help everyday consumers and factory workers stay safe from radiation danger. These products include blankets, coatings, mats, clothing, water filters, wall insulation, and a whole lot more. There is a whole wealth of protective products that can easily be manufactured and sold.

Typically, the effects of EMF radiation are mild. Some people have reported symptoms like headaches, fatigue, sleep disorders, and hormonal disorders. It is difficult to find the exact precise cause of the issues, although the World Health Organization acknowledges the potential danger of EMF radiation.

The best thing an EMI shielding manufacturer can do for the public is to create a line of products that a customer can use at home to protect himself from EMF radiation of any kind. Most factories, too, should ensure their EMF and EMI shielding is up to date and working effectively to protect workers.

EMF Protection

EMF protection systems are utilities that protect people and sensitive equipment from potential hazards posed by the electromotive forces generated by some varieties of electronic devices. EMF protection requires the use of magnetic shielding materials or products to absorb or redirect electromagnetic fields (EMF) from interfering with sensitive devices as well as contact with people.

Also referred to as electromotive force, EMF describes electromagnetic fields that are vibrating at frequencies ranging from close to 0Hz to THz, or almost no movement to trillions of times per second and even higher speeds. The lower frequencies produce non-ionizing radiation, while the higher frequencies produce ionizing radiation. As a result, high frequencies are more likely to cause problems and interfere with sensitive devices, while low frequencies are more likely to cause health problem concerns for individuals. Some examples of sensitive devices that may require EMF protection at high frequencies include communication devices such as cell phones, security systems, wireless Internet, radios, baby monitors, televisions and computers. Devices for wireless communication are particularly at risk. At low frequencies, sensitive devices such as plug-in devices, pendants, power lines, building wiring and tabletop products will most require EMF protection. A few examples of health problems that research has shown to be connected to low frequency EMF exposure include childhood leukemia, adult cancer, chronic pain, fatigue, nausea and headaches.

The two different frequency levels of EMF act in distinct ways. High frequency EMF behave in much the same way as light beams, in that they do not bend but reflect off of surfaces instead. At these frequencies, typically above 300kHZ, electric fields and magnetic fields cease to be separate entities and become combined to form electromagnetic fields. Low frequency EMF, on the other hand, behaves quite differently. At these frequencies, which are below 300kHZ, the electric fields and the magnetic fields remain separate. Instead of acting like light beams, these frequencies behave much more live sound waves. That is, like sound waves these frequencies will bend around corners and quickly become distorted when reflected. As a result, these frequencies are much easier to block than high frequency EMF because they typically travel straight from the source to the closest ground. There are many different methods in which the harmful effects of both of these types of EMF can be prevented. Some typically EMF protection products include shields, filters, gaskets and enclosures. One of the most common materials used to make these products is Mu Metal, which is a nickel-iron alloy that is 77% nickel, 15% iron and a small amount of both copper and molybdenum. Alternate materials include Molybdenum permalloy, Sendut, Hipernom, polyurethane foam, epoxy resin and supermalloy.
