Floating Ball Valve in Virginia

A floating ball valve creates a mechanism that can shut-off a pipe by using a non-fixed ball to drift into place against the seat, providing a tight seal. Floating ball valves are not held in place by a trunnion like other ball valves but are instead allowed to drift within the enclosure, albeit very slightly.
