Founded in Ohio in 1987, Dura-Belt began as a company that offered urethane belts to installers, distributors, and OEMs. Jim Hammond, a physicist from Jet Propulsion Labs, purchased the company in 1991 with the goal of implementing new technology to the belting industry. This included a quality control system that was a forerunner of ISO 9000. The result of Hammond’s vision was a Super-Strong welding process as well as conveyor belt materials that were more durable than any before.
