Vibration Absorbers/

Rubber Pads

Rubber pads used in industrial or manufacturing settings are elastomeric based mats used on the floors and/or walls of manufacturing spaces, or under pieces of machinery which are known to have mechanical motion or operating noise. Rubber is a naturally slip resistant product that is able to absorb elements of vibration and sound.

Industry Information

Rubber Pads

Rubber pads are designed to insulate machinery against vibration, reduce structure-born noise, and lower the risk of equipment damage. For industrial purposes, the rubber pads can be large in size, however, in commercial or residential applications, small rubber pads can be used for cabinets, stereos, under furniture and domestic appliances such as washers and dryers for the same purposes of absorbing noise and vibrations. Rubber pads or rubber mounts may also be used to protect machinery and its operators by preventing slippage during the operating process. Industrial rubber pads are ideal for heavy machinery, including metal forming equipment, large presses and power generation equipment, as well as for air conditioning units, pumps, electronic cleaners and more. As shock absorbers, they are often placed under machinery or anything that generates high intensity noise levels and as they isolate the vibrations, or absorb sound waves, the rubber pads prevent those factors being a disturbance in the surrounding environment. They can also be used for sound proofing to absorb sound waves and vibrations in places such as recording studios, performance buildings etc.

They are an efficient and economically smart method for improving working conditions, especially in factories with multiple pieces of equipment in which the loud mechanical noises or prolonged and constant vibrations could bother workers over time. Typically made out of synthetic forms of rubber such as neoprene, polychloroprene or nitrile rubber, rubber mats are low maintenance and will often have a long lifespan. They come in many useful stock dimensions and thicknesses; however, custom designed mats are easily manufactured for specific machines or spaces. They are typically measured by PSI or pounds per square inch. Many have ribs, holes or a grid format and are generally black or dark grey. Because they have no moving parts and are generally made out of a single material, using rubber pads as a form of vibration dampening is very inexpensive. Rubber mats are also often made from a combination of cork and rubber, which adds another dimension of vibration damping to the product. Since they have a high tolerance to both very low and high temperatures, they can be used in a variety of different factory settings.
