Packaging Machinery

Packaging machinery is any equipment that is used to place products in a package. Packaging machinery accounts for a considerable savings to its users; packing machines can quickly and efficiently pack products that would otherwise have to be packaged manually by workers, which is more expensive and can be less efficient.

Industry Information

Packaging Machinery

Packaging machinery is used to fill, pack, wrap and bag products before they leave production lines. These machines have eliminated the need for many time-consuming, labor-intensive tasks that were once done by hand. A wide variety of industries make use of packaging equipment, particularly those that involve the manufacture or distribution of small products in bulk quantities. Breakfast cereal producers, for example, must have access to equipment that can package their products quickly and efficiently. Manual packaging of such products would be impractical and time consuming. Also, because many such products are packaged in heat-sealed bags to maintain the products' cleanliness and freshness, automated equipment is highly favored over manual packaging; workers are, in most high-volume production lines, not capable of filling, sealing and then moving packaged products quickly enough to be economical.

Packaging machines can operate at a much higher speed than manual labor, saving companies money. Some common packing machines include shrink wrappers, filling machines, heat sealers, labeling machines and bagging machines. Automated packaging processes vary depending on what type of machine is being used. Vacuum packaging, for example, involves removing oxygen from a package and then sealing it; this process is commonly used in food packaging in order to reduce the chances of product spoilage before it reaches consumers. Often packaging machines work in conjunction with a conveyer belt that moves product to and from different phases of the packaging process. Companies that employ packaging machinery accumulate savings at all phases of the packaging process compared to companies that employ manual labor. While the primary savings is in decreased time and effort per packaged product, additional savings include reduced expenditures related to worker safeguards and amenities; if there are no workers present on a packaging line, there is no need for the installation and regular maintenance of such investments. Packaging machinery is an exceptionally efficient and economical product packaging solution.
