Corrugated Carton

Every industrial operation has need of a means with which it can store objects in its facilities and to ship products from its facilities. There are many shipping and storage container choices available to industry, and corrugated cartons are a popular example. Corrugated containers are also popular in homes and in non-industrial places of business such as in retail centers and office buildings. In all of the contexts in which corrugated containers are used, they can be referred to as cartons, boxes, totes, carriers and all kinds of other names. The word "carton" is often used specifically in reference to smaller containers, particularly those that are used for the storage or shipment of food items. They can be made out of brown cardboard, white cardboard, plastic and a number of other materials.

Corrugated cardboard cartons can be constructed from a variety of card stock materials. A paper pulp-based material known as paperboard is one commonly used material. Corrugated paperboard has an inner fluted (pleated) sheet, which adds strength and impact resistance. Corrugated cartons come in a number of sizes, from 4 x 4 x 4 to very large sizes such as 48 x 48 x 48. They can be dyed, decaled with logos and printed to convey messages and warnings. Corrugated cartons can be used multiple times, and most varieties, particularly those that are constructed of paper, can be recycled once they reach the end of their usable lives. Such paper-based corrugated cartons are also often made of recycled material, which makes them a sustainable alternative to many other container materials such as wood, metal and some kinds of non-recyclable plastic. Corrugated paper-based cartons are also lighter weight and less costly than other types of containers, which contributes to their attractiveness as an alternative to other materials. Overall, as industry looks for more cost-efficient, environmentally-safe and versatile storage and shipping products, corrugated paper-based cartons will continue to be in high demand.
