Aluminum Coil
Aluminum coil is a rolled product produced in coil form and is a continuous
strip of aluminum. The coil has both an inner and outer diameter and comes
in a variety of finishes. Aluminum coil may be painted, embossed or mill finished
depending on its intended use. Manufacturers of aluminum coil also offer many
alloys or grades of aluminum, as well as a variety of thicknesses, widths and
tempers.
Aluminum coil use is advantageous over the use of other metals. Aluminum is
lighter and less dense than other metals, such as copper. It is also corrosion
resistant, recyclable and is a good conductor of electricity and heat.
Aluminum coil is used for many applications, including aerospace and high-strength
uses, general engineering, custom commercial and industrial applications. The
automotive industry accounts for almost thirty percent of the aluminum use
in the United States, and aluminum coil is also in high demand in automotive
factories.
