Industry Information

Wet Dry Vacuum

Wet dry vacuums are specialized types of canister vacuums that can be used to clean up wet, or liquid, spills as well as removing dry debris. Canister vacuums have wheels that allow the unit to be pulled behind the user as they walk with the separate suction attachment. Sold in various designs, shapes and sizes all the way from handheld units to large industrial models, wet dry vacs are ideal for workshops, warehouses, sheds and garages. Applications that require wet dry vacuums include water damage, metalworking chips and fluids, toxic media, coolant, wood shavings, fine powders, abrasives, explosive media, litter, and oil spills. Easy to use, wet dry vacuums serve a wide range of industries including retail, commercial, residential, industrial, agricultural, oil and petroleum, woodworking, food processing, construction, automotive and recycling.

A wet dry vacuum consists of a wheeled canister, typically plastic drums, which house the suction motor and a large tub or bucket. The wet and dry vacuum sucks in waste through a wide plastic intake port. The suction is created by a fan, which is powered by an electric motor. The waste then passes though a partially pressurized tube in which air flow is taking up waste for collection in the bucket. The air flow slows down when it reaches the housing over the bucket; this change causes the waste to fall into the bucket. The slow moving air flow, which is now without the waste, travels through the housing and passes through the fan. After passing through the fan, air escapes through the exhaust port. It will then either be necessary to dump the waste collected out of the bucket, however dirt and debris particles dissolve in the water inside the bucket leaving far less dirt left inside of the wet dry vacuum than a standard consumer vacuum.
