Waterproof Cases
Waterproof cases are designed to protect vulnerable items from contact with water while they are being stored, carried or transported. They are mostly used when certain products that cannot touch water may be exposed to outside weather conditions or need to function under water. Cases that are waterproof can come in all sorts of sizes and are either made for keeping specific items dry or for general-purpose use. They are most often made to protect electronics like cameras, cell phones, PDA's and laptops. There are also cases specifically made for protecting products such as documents, medical supplies, tobacco and firearms. Luggage, pouches and backpacks are also often made waterproof to protect any items kept inside them.
Waterproof cases may be hard, and made out of materials like ABS plastic or aluminum, or soft, and made out of polymer plastics or reinforced vinyl. They are often lined with foam and closed by a zipper with rubber reinforcement or air-tight drawstrings. The cases come in many different colors, but if the item being protected still needs to be used while in the case, it is usually manufactured out of soft, clear plastic. One of the most common waterproof cases is made for cameras. These cases are made of malleable transparent polycarbonate, which allows the user to operate the camera's buttons or touch screen, and a reinforced glass lens window. These cases remain air-tight, even in underwater applications.
