Walkie ForkliftsWalkie forklifts are smaller lift trucks that are customized for various height lifts and storage or stacking operations. They have small stand-up operating platforms which have no cabins. Often, their lift heights go up to 210 inches and they have a load capacity from 2200 to 3500 pounds. Their proportional hydraulics and advanced ergonomics allow more sensitive lifting and lowering, as well as increased operator comfort. Walkie forklifts are always electric and ideal for stacking in narrow or congested areas. Their bodies are generally manufactured out of painted stainless steel. Walkie forklifts have optional foldable platforms, multiple lowering speeds and varying fork lengths and lift heights. There are three main types of walkie forklift—fork-over, straddle leg and counterbalanced. Fork-over lifts are best for stacking in narrow aisles. Straddle-leg forklifts are designed to remove and set down pallets on the ground, unload large trucks and fill storage racks. They are also often used in narrow aisles and have a stabilization leg that the operator’s legs straddle, which creates more stability. Counterbalanced forklifts are used instead of straddle-leg lifts when the stabilization leg prevents placing pallets close together. Instead, this type of forklift truck contains weights in its body that provide stability and help prevent the lift from toppling over.
