Storage Shelving

Storage Shelving

Storage shelving comes in a variety of designs. Different storage shelving units differ most significantly by the material they are made from and the dimensions of the unit. Relevant dimensions include the height, length and depth of the unit, as well as its weight capacity. Storage shelving is often constructed from hard metal like steel or aluminum but can also be made of plastic, wood and even glass. Which material is chosen depends largely on what the application is. Stainless steel shelving is often chosen by food processing companies and for medical applications because it is a sterile metal as well as being strong and durable. Plastic is not as sturdy but may serve well enough for storing toys, clothes or shoes in households that prefer its low cost to a strong shelving system. Glass is not often utilized as a storage shelf material, but is occasionally used in safe and fancy environments for purely aesthetic reasons. Wood is a sturdy and sometimes cost-effective option for shelving units, although it does not have the benefit of chemical treatments that can boost its resistance to fire or chemical corrosion as metal can.

Storage shelving units optimize space by allowing goods to be stacked vertically and horizontally on shelves. This in turn also allows inventory to be displayed in an organized manner. Storage shelving is commonly utilized in retail stores, warehouses, homes and offices. Certain characteristics of a specific shelving system will play a factor in which style is chosen by what industry. For example, adjustable shelving is incredibly popular in commercial settings where their display needs change, and having a shelving system that can be altered is vital to achieving the best aesthetics to draw in customers. Mobile shelving is ideal for office settings where mobile filing systems save time and increase productivity, as well as utilizing space since the top of mobile shelving can be used for other things. Wire shelving is a less expensive shelving option mostly geared toward product consumer context as a structure for light storage. However, it is also used in heavier duty context because of its air circulation capabilities, depending on the material used to produce the wire. There is such a wide variety of storage shelving styles, that regardless of a buyers needs, the perfect shelving system may be purchased.
