Static Bags
Static bags are one of the most popular ways to eliminate static and protect sensitive objects from the damaging effects of static electricity. The inside of the bag, which is coated with anti-static material, helps to eliminate static electricity and keep the bag's contents free from static. Static bags come in a wide variety of sizes with different anti-static materials.
The common variations of static bags include dissipative poly bags, black conductive poly bags, shielding bags, and moisture barrier bags. With the use of a dissipative poly bag, the static charge is dissipated to the ground, preventing an increase of static electricity on the bag. This type of bag is most often used in the packaging industry. Because black poly is highly conductive, black conductive poly bags provide some shielding; these bags are also able to dissipate a charge very quickly. Shielding bags, on the other hand, have many of the dissipative features of poly bags, but they also offer a metal shield to keep static out of the bag. Shielding bags are often used for electronic components. When an anti-static application requires a barrier, moisture barrier bags are a popular choice, as they dissipate static electricity, provide static shielding, and add barrier of moisture.
The electronic, graphics, photography, printing, and optics industries, among many others, benefit from static bags. In addition to standard models, static bags can be custom-made to meet the specific requirements of an application.
