Stainless Tanks
Stainless tanks, or stainless steel tanks, are used to house a wide variety of materials and substances. These tanks can range in capacity from a gallon or two to over a million gallons and are designed for the specific storage of food, beverages, chemicals, gases, and water.
Stainless tanks are desirable mostly because of stainless steel's numerous benefits. Stainless steel is sanitary, durable, and is easy to clean. When storing beverage products, stainless steel imparts a neutral flavor on stored liquids, thus not affecting the taste of the beverage. Stainless steel is also resistant to rust and corrosion, which makes it useful in the storage of hazardous substances.
Dairy tanks are a type of storage tanks often made of stainless steel. They are used to hold milk until it is picked up for delivery to the dairy plant. While stored, milk must be cooled at a temperature of about 40 degrees Fahrenheit to keep it from spoiling. Since dairy tanks have to be cleaned after every use, it is useful that stainless steel is easy to clean and hygienic.
Stainless tanks have also recently come to be valued by wineries for the fermentation of wine. Most wineries use a double-walled tank that circulates coolant in between the two walls, giving winemakers the ability to better adjust the temperature of the tank to control fermentation. Also, as mentioned before, the stainless steel material of the tanks does not impart foreign flavors on the wine. Wineries also use stainless steel tanks because they are easy to clean and exceptionally sanitary.
