Sheet Metal
Sheet metal is the metal formed into large, thin planes that are usually rectangular-shaped. Sheet metal can be made out of every kind of metallic material, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, brass, and more.
Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, as it can be cut and turned into a variety of shapes and structures. Sheet metal is used to manufacture countless goods, including those in the automotive, construction, military, and electronics industries.
Metal is made into sheet form by being heated into a malleable form and fed through a pair of rolls that compress the metal into thin sheets. Sheet metal comes in various gauges, from 8 gauge to 30 gauge. The gauge refers to the thickness of the metal; the higher the number, the thinner the metal sheet is.
