Rack manufacturers make storage units constructed of vertical and horizontal supports and shelves. Storage racks enable goods to be stored in a manner that optimizes space and enhances organization. Racks hold many kinds of inventory, from long carpet rolls to boxed goods or pallets.

Storage racks are available in a variety of dimensions and materials. Although most racks are made of strong metals, like steel or aluminum, they can also be made of plastic, wire or wood. Some racks have wheels on the bottom so that they can be transported from one location to another.

Common types of racks include drive in racks, drive thru racks, cantilever racks and pallet racks. Storage racks are used in warehouses, homes, offices and retail stores.
