International Power Cords

International power cords are electrically conductive cables used to allow for the transfer of energy between electrical devices and outlets in countries of differing outlet voltage standards. Successful transfer of energy depends on the tight and corresponding fit between the prongs of an electrical receptacle and the wall socket it is connecting to. Therefore, international power cords and plug adapters are used as a means of transferring the electrical energy in a manner with which it can be received and used by equipment or appliances without causing damage with incorrect voltage. Like regular power cords, international power cords consist of a flexible cord with electrical plugs at each end, one male (the supply end) and one female (the equipment end). International cords differ in terms of tensile strength, design, wire sizes, stranding and color coding of conductors. While the equipment end of the international power cord will be configured towards the origin of the appliance, the supply end must correspond with the configuration of the country in which it is being used.  The purpose of an international cord is to transmit only enough energy to ensure that the electrical equipment or appliance functions properly.
