Palletizing refers to the arrangement of products on a pallet by machines for shipping, storing, or moving purposes. Palletizing involves the use of a feed area that is used to receive the items that are to be palletized. While low-level palletizers are fed from the ground, high-level palletizers are fed through a hopper overhead. With the use of either type of palletizer, the feed is received in a rolling fashion and is continuously transferred to the pallets.
Palletizing makes the stacking, storing, and moving of loads much easier compared with other methods. It is extremely beneficial when multiple units need to be shipped or stored together. Packaging and shipping companies or companies who do their own shipping most often use palletizing. Palletizers can work with drums, sacks, bags, pails, cans, cases, and various other product types.
When looking for a palletizer, it is important to consider the type of goods the machine will be required to handle, as not all palletizers are equipped to handle all package types.
Other important details to consider include the number of lines of output that will be distributed to the palletizer; whether conveyors release products at low level or high level; the current size, type, and assembly method of pallets; and the speed of the conveyor line.
