Bridge Cranes
Bridge cranes are the most commonly used type of overhead cranes. Bridge cranes consist of a hoist that moves laterally on a bridge. The bridge itself moves longitudinally on a runway. This combination allows for three-dimensional handling of objects.
Bridge cranes are available in top-riding or underhung versions. Top-riding bridge cranes are able to handle heavier loads, but underhung versions are more versatile. Underhung bridge cranes are able to transfer loads and interface with other material handling systems.
