Laminating Machine
A laminating machine is used to apply a thin film of plastic lamination on documents, glass, wood, or other materials. Laminate is used for its protective qualities, as well as for its decorative traits. Laminating machines use heat to melt two layers of plastic film together, securing the object inside the protective layers.
Many different sizes and designs of laminating machines are available. For instance, machines can either use sheets or rolls of laminate material. Smaller machines usually use sheets to make name badges, report covers, and to laminate individual sheets of paper. Another type of small laminating machine runs heated rollers over a laminate pouch containing the item to be laminated. Larger machines, like those used in industrial settings, use large rolls of plastic film in order to cover large areas without pause.
Laminate can also be applied to wood, glass, metals, and fabrics. Some fabrics, like those used to make footwear, have a durable, waterproof coating, often made of vinyl. Plywood is often coated with a layer of laminate, as are Formica and various materials used for flooring.
