Packaging Equipment Manufacturers

Packaging can refer to either the process of constructing packages or the actual packing of a product into a container. Packaging equipment makes the distribution process easier through the automation of tasks that previously would have been manual, such as contract sewing or die cutting. Packaging equipment manufacturers offer labeling machinery, machine vision systems, marking machinery, palletizers and more. Not only does the packaging equipment effectively sort and package materials but the process is designed to protect the materials from unwanted containments or becoming damaged.

Types of Packaging Equipment:

Contract Packaging

Contract packaging is a service where a company will package products for another company. Proper packaging is an essential step in the distributing process of any manufacturer and some industries have a number of very strict packaging requirements. For example the food/beverage and medical industries are required to comply with a set of regulations to ship their items. In some situations companies may not be able to properly equipped with the equipment to meet these requirements so a contract packaging company can then be utilized to adequately package the materials.

Marking Machinery

Marking machinery refers to a variety of machines that are used to implement images, logos, identification codes, part numbers, hazardous symbols and much more. Marking machines are ideal for adding a uniform system to a workplace and there are several logistical benefits associated with marking machinery. These machines offer a number of different part marking styles such as hot stamping, plasma etching, laser marking, dot peen and more. The type of marking equipment that should be selected for a situation is based upon the surface type and application.

Palletizers are devices used for loading and unloading pallets which not only offer increased efficiency in a work zone but also safer working environment. Palletizers can be categorized into three different types: robotic palletizers, high level palletizers, and low level palletizers. Robotic palletizers are programmable hydraulic machines that are able to sort and stack items with precision. The difference between high level palletizers and low level palletizers is how the pallets are loaded. In low level palletizers the products are loaded from the ground level whereas the high level palletizers are loaded from above. All of these systems are fully automatic and perform at a much faster rate compared to humans due to the fact these machines do not become fatigued.

Packaging Supply Manufacturers

Due to the industrialization of packaging, packaging supply chains are often utilized to create extremely organized packaging equipment systems that move parts and packaging supplies such as plastic bags and corrugated boxes through various stages quickly and efficiently. There is a high demand for industrial packaging supplies such as plastic trays, clamshells and blister packs. These solutions are used in industries such as commercial, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, medical and electronics, packaging and shipping supplies are commonly made from plastic materials such as polyethylene, polycarbonate, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride.

Types of Packaging Supplies:

Cardboard Tubes

Cardboard tubes are cylindrical items that are typically spiral wound and then reinforced with adhesives. These items are engineered to protect materials for transportation or storage. Cardboard tubes are very cost-effective solutions compared to other types of products and can easily be customized to meet the needs of a particular sense the material can be cut to size. One important advantage of cardboard tubes is the strength-to-weight ratio which offers ideal protection for not weighing very much.

Plastic Bags

Plastic bags are often described as lightweight and flexible polymeric films that are used for packaging, storing and transporting. Plastic bags offer a wide range of customization from size, color, shape and even resealable features. Bags are very common items and they are used in a growing number of industries. Not only do these items offer convenient storing but they are very simple to make. Plastic bags are also preferred in situations where sterile storing is required but the clear plastic allows for easy viewing to distinguish different types of parts or materials.

Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming is a process that goes by a few different names such as vacuum molding or thermoforming. Vacuum forming is known as one of the oldest styles for shaping plastics. Polystyrene, polyethylene, polycarbonate and acrylic are the common types of plastics associated with vacuum forming. In the first stage of the vacuum forming process a plastic sheet is placed into a frame which is inside of a vacuum chamber. The chamber is heated and the frame lowered to be draped over a mold which then air is pumped out of the chamber so the plastic can adhere to the mold. The plastic is then cooled and removed from the mold.
