Bag Dust Collector

Dust collectors are systems that filter and collect hazardous debris resulting from various industrial processes. Bag dust collectors are the receptacles within these systems that house the debris. Because OSHA regulations require a strict level of air quality to be maintained for the health of employees and equipment, dust collectors are a necessity for majority of manufacturers in business today.

Bag Dust Collector

Dust collection equipment comes in many varieties, which then requires that bag dust collectors be available in multiple shapes and sizes, including custom designs. They are generally made from a fabric material such as woven or felted cotton, although synthetic or a glass-fiber material is also used for certain contexts. Most companies that produce dust collectors offer coatings and glazes for the bags to enhance certain characteristics such as dust cake formation and release, as well as prolonging service life. Resistance to flame and corrosive chemicals are other traits that can be strengthened by dust bag coatings. The two most common shapes for the bags are envelope and tube because these are easy shapes to install and change-out. The open side of the bag usually comes with a snap band, corded cuff or clamp to serve as a firm and secure seal when the bag is mounted and gasketed into the rest of the dust collecting system.

A dust collector bag is measured for efficiency based on how much air can be filtered per minute and how small the filtered particulates must be before slipping through. The particulates are measured in terms of microns. The average bag dust collector is able to filter anything from one micron to thirty microns in size. Permeability, which is another way a bag's efficiency is measured, is based on how much air filters through. This is measured in cubic feet per minute or cubic meters per minute. When a customer is considering what type of bag to purchase for their dust control system, there are many factors to consider. The type of fabric affects the efficiency of the bag, and the shape and size can also play a part in how long it will be useable. Certain fabrics are less expensive but need to be changed out more often, so maintaining a long-term mindset while choosing the type of bag is necessary.
