IQS Newsroom Articles on Flash Dryers

Flash Dryers

Flash dryers are industrial dryers that dry a substance or material during exposure to a short burst of high heat. The wet material dries as it is conveyed through a drying duct. Cyclones or bag filters then separate the product. Water sludge is often dried this way at water treatment plants for the easy removal of contaminants.

The most important aspect of many industrial drying processes is the exposure to an amount of heat for a period of time. In the case of flash dryers, the process is intense but fast, in that the material is exposed for a very short amount of time but given enough heat to be dried almost instantaneously.

Flash dryers are used in such industries as chemical, food, mineral, and polymers. Pastes, gels, powders, cakes, granules, flakes and slurries are examples of products that can be treated by flash dryers.
