Data Loggers
Data logging begins with the instruments and devices that transmit the signals to be translated. These instruments may serve various purposes, from measuring the temperature of a laboratory environment to measuring the speed of flow in a pipe. A transducer converts the measurements into an electric signal that can be understood by a computer. Data acquisition is used in various industries to do a wide variety of tasks. To forecast the weather, for example, meteorologists rely on data loggers that measure temperature, humidity, and pressure. Manufacturers also use data loggers to monitor their equipment and to make any necessary adjustments. Data loggers can also be used to control test conditions, activate safety alarms, and regulate temperature in sensitive environments.
