Cardboard Storage Boxes

Cardboard storage boxes are made out of multiple layers of cardboard. The outer layers are thick and smooth, while the inner layer is corrugated. Besides storage, these boxes, which are usually large and square, are very popular choices when moving from one house to another because they are durable, hold a wide variety of differently shaped items and can hold a lot of weight without tearing. They can be stacked on the floor, a shelf or a rack system, and unless they are exposed to moisture, cardboard storage boxes can continue to be used for many years. They are used to hold unwanted household items, archived files and records in offices and unused inventory and overstock in plants, factories and storage warehouses. While most cardboard boxes are square, they come in a number of different shapes and sizes, including cylindrical and rectangular. Some more expensive boxes can be custom made to fit a certain unusually-shaped product or object.

There are a few different types of cardboard storage boxes that differ from the standard large, brown and square box, each with their own specific applications. File storage boxes are usually made out of white cardboard that has been either bleached or mottled (painted). They are rectangular and are of two-piece construction; they usually have a removable lid and carrying handles punched out on each side. The interior can have folder rails, which are used to hang files and keep them neat and organized. Smaller cardboard boxes are usually for storing large amounts of tiny objects, like fasteners or baseball cards. They are not designed for very heavy objects. These boxes are usually glued together. Larger, sturdier cardboard storage boxes are usually brown in color and held together by tape, folding the flaps together or by using heavy duty staples. They can handle hundreds of pounds without breaking and should always be lifted with support under the bottom of the box.
