Car Wash

There are three different kinds of car washes: self service, automated and full service. Each kind of wash requires different equipment and components. Owners can choose from a variety of extras, including a wax coat, carpet shampoo, leather conditioner and tire detailing. Self service car washes have a large, open bay with a pressure sprayer and foaming scrub brush, which is connected to a large central pump. They are usually coin operated; the number of quarters inserted determines the duration of the wash. Coin operated vacuums are usually available on-site and can be used to clean car interiors. Automated car washes, in comparison, are a popular system where cars are driven into the wash bay and either guided into the washing equipment by conveyors or the equipment moves around the stationary vehicle. Automatic car washes can be either touchless or cloth friction.

Car washes can help to extend the life of a vehicle. Caustic materials, such as salt, can corrode vehicles' exteriors and damage undercarriages. Especially in geographical areas where roads are salted during winter months, salt buildup can be a major threat to vehicles. Car washes can be used to mitigate the effects of contact with road salts and other hazards. Most car washes use special soap designed to protect paint. Different customers have different preferences when it comes to car washes, and for this reason there are many different kinds of car wash services available. The owner of a classic car, for example, may not be comfortable driving a car through an automatic car wash or trusting a car to full-service wash employees. In such cases, self-service car washes would be appropriate. In other cases, such as those in which a customer may be unwilling or unable to use a self-service car wash, that customer could make use of automatic or full service wash facilities. As long as there are cars to wash, there will always be a market for car washes and car wash equipment.
