Brass Forgings

Brass forgings are used for a variety of purposes, depending on the brass alloy used. Brass alloys can be composed of different proportions of copper and zinc, with some containing added metals including lead, tin, aluminum, and silicon. These differing compositions allow for brasses that vary widely in hardness and other properties such as corrosion resistance.

As an alloy, brass is known for being highly malleable and having a relatively low melting point. These characteristics make brass alloys a popular choice for hot forging of precision parts, completed by machining. Hot-forged brass precision parts show excellent tensile strength, torsion strength, and wear resistance.

Brass forgings can be produced with a solid color and attractive polish, making them very popular for hardware applications such as doorknobs and handles. Brass forgings are utilized for a wide variety of purposes.
