Baling Presses
Baling presses, regardless of style, work through the same general process. The press is manually or automatically loaded through an input area. The material is then fed into a chamber where it is pounded, smashed and squeezed into a compact, cubic shape. Once the material has been compacted, it is then bound in order to maintain its shape. Wire, plastic, or string is used to tightly bind the compressed material.
Bailers, such as
cardboard balers and
metal balers, can be manufactured to produce bales in specific sizes according to storage or transportation needs. Smaller bales are lighter and easier to transport, but the process of making smaller bales may slow down the overall compaction time. Most industrial bailers are powered by electricity and both vertical and horizontal balers use hydraulic systems to move the waste material, cutting back on energy expenditure and heat generation.
Complete turn-key recycling and composting systems can be designed around a basic baler, allowing business to be environmentally responsible in their waste management. As recycling becomes more central to industrial and manufacturing processes, baling presses and equipment will play a large role in reducing the carbon footprint of industry. Baling presses are used in automotive and manufacturing industries, as well as in retail, commercial and food processing sectors, and are used for the compression of materials which require heavy-duty pressure. Materials are baled in order to be shipped to recycling facilities for the production of future items within the same industry, or to be reused in the production of an entirely new material. For high waste-producing industries such as food-processing or automotive manufacturing, the choice of compacting waste materials is both an economic matter and an environmental matter as reducing the bulk of the waste reduces the money and effort required to dispose of it. Baler machinery is a sound investment for any manufacturer, and as balers tend to be very durable and reliable pieces of machinery it is possible to source refurbished, used balers at cost-effective prices.
